Staying connected to our feminine energy during the workday is one of the biggest things that I see my clients struggle with. In today’s world, we’re asked to stay in front of a computer screen for countless hours or run around with deadlines and high levels of stress that keep us out of our body and sometimes even out of our minds!
Although work culture is improving with more flexibility, it’s also leading to a lot more screen time which is one of the biggest factors for feeling disembodied and disconnected from our feminine energy.
Today I want to share with you some very simple and go-to ways that I hack my workflow to stay connected with my feminine energy throughout the workday, no matter what is in front of me.
stay connected with your feminine energy throughout your workday by doing these 5 things
I want to start off by saying that I run my own business and I’ve also had my own brick and mortar. So I know what it feels like to have a long list of things to do and feel like it will never end.
I also know that my feminine energy is what dictates every single part of my day and workflow (which is all explained inside the Cyclical Entrepreneur Workshop) and if I don’t stay connected to my feminine energy, then I start to feel very disembodied and in my head.
This is why I’m so passionate about helping women with cyclical living, cyclical entrepreneurship and easy ways to connect with their bodies and their feminine energy throughout their workday and workflow (also you find that with practice, you will feel really good overall and have more energy for the rest of your life!).
These are my go-to tips to stay connected with your feminine energy no matter what is in front of you today:
Tip #1 to stay connected with your feminine energy:
Use your most important sense: SMELL!
As women we respond to elements and our senses, so use them to your advantage. The very first thing I do every morning when I sit on my desk is take out my Young Living essential oil. The sense of smell especially for me as a sensitive is extremely important.
Fun fact: smell is the only sense that can tap into parts of the brain that no other sense can. It goes straight into our subconscious and sets the template for the day.
So make sure you grab an essential oil, put a few drops on your palm, rub your palms together and hover your palms over your nose.
Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths.
Connect with the energy of the essential oil not just the smell.
Connect with the plant and maybe even ask the plant to support you in staying connected to its beauty and its magic throughout the day.
What the heck, it’s fun, it makes you feel good, and it brings some magic into your day. None of which a girl can do without.
Quick note: yes, the quality of the essential oil will make or break the deal. I’ve played with so many different brands and types. I trust in Young Living and you can use this link to order yourself the highest quality essential oils that exist on the market. Save 10 percent off your first order with promo code SHAREYL.
My favorites are Envision blend and Grounding Blend for my work desk.
Also, Play with plants!
What are you looking at in your workspace? Consider adding a plant or two.
Lately I’ve been getting into the mini succulents. They’re about the size of my index finger. They are so incredibly cute and also very beautiful to look at (besides the fact that they’re so easy to take care of).
Remember, plants have a direct connection to our hearts and when we look at them we automatically soften and drop down into our hearts, which brings us back into our bodies and out of our minds.
Tip #2 to stay connected with your feminine energy:
Set your intention immediately after breathing in your essential oil.
Place your hands on your body, either around your womb or around your heart and take a full breath into the back of your palms.
Let your body expand and contract as you breathe into it.
Take at least 3 full rounds of breaths as slowly as possible.
Drop your mind’s eye to the space behind your palms and set the intention to return to your body throughout the day, to the best of your ability.
Notice how you feel during and afterward.
Tip #3 to stay connected with your feminine energy
Take breaks (that get you out of your mind and into your body)!
Make sure you’re getting up at least three times per day, if not more. Some clients like to have a timer on their phone and make sure that they get up every hour or so especially if you have the majority of your work day centered around a screen.
Make sure that you take a full lunch break without any screen time. I know sometimes that’s difficult because the first thing you want to do is check our phones or watch YouTube videos. But try different ways to stimulate your senses. Remember we’re trying to stay connected to the body and everytime we look at screens we’re simply returning to the mind. You could turn something on to listen to and just make sure you’re deeply breathing as you listen to it.
The best thing to do is to walk around and take a few stretches, get outside and get some fresh air or simply drink some warm tea to get you back into your body. It’s important to move the energy in a DIFFERENT way or environment, so that means changing up the scene to the best of your ability.
Tip #4 to stay connected with your feminine energy:
Deep Breaths
The breath is what keeps us grounded in our body. No matter how many times you’re getting up throughout your day, notice how often you’re taking deep breaths.
Breathe into your womb while working and make sure to wiggle your jaw. Any tension held in these places will eventually move their way up to the mind, the shoulders and the traps/neck area (uuuhhhgg..) which restricts energy flow and can create headaches, etc.
If this is something that is new for you, consider putting an alarm clock on your phone or leaving a little post-it note on your desk. You can also have something placed around your work area that reminds you of this concept, for example, a mini laughing Buddha will remind you to keep your belly soft while keeping a light heart (I love this!).
Tip #5 to stay connected with your feminine energy:
Sacred Cacao!
Once I started working with Sacred Cacao I realized it was so much more than for just ceremonial spaces. I have a very deep connection to sacred cacao and recommend it to many of my clients as a way to connect back with their hearts and wombs. I share all about how sacred cacao is connected to our feminine energy inside Menstrual Magic if this is something you are interested in exploring.
Put simply, sacred cacao allows us to come back to the Medicine of the Feminine, which brings us back to the heart frequency – the frequency of love.
I love adding in Sacred Cacao to my days, especially when I know I’ve been on the computer for a long time, I’m in my luteal phase or I’ve had a long day of focusing on one project after another. It’s a wonderful way to steady the mind and drop back into my feminine energy.
There are many sacred cacao companies but there is one specifically that I work with and that I trust. This is the link for the cacao I use. I’m part of the practitioners program, so in full transparency, it’s an affiliate link (which will support all the work and team members that goes behind the scenes!).
I hope you enjoy it!
Tip #6 to stay connected with your feminine energy:
Notice what you are wearing. Most of our modern-day clothes, especially for women, is very restrictive and cuts energy flow around the 2 most feminine and sensual areas: the womb and the breasts.
If you are still wearing very tight pants that constrict any part of the space below your navel or wearing bras that fit very tight with wires, I strongly suggest creating more balance in your wardrobe. Believe it or not, these things create a lot of internal pressure in the body, causing women to feel disconnected, and agitated and even build up resentment toward body image (another topic for another day).
Basically, goddess attire wins. LOL. One of my favorite things about having lived in Hawai’i was how comfortable the style of clothing there is. Now moving to NYC, the story has changed and I’ve had to figure out new ways of wearing clothes that don’t feel so constrictive.
So simply check in – are you feeling comfortable and ‘relaxed’ in your clothing or does it feel like you have to ‘suck in your belly’ or take smaller breaths because your bra is pressing into your chest?!
Simple fix with HUGE effects!
BONUS: Tip #7 to stay connected with your feminine energy
Make sure to close your day off right.
No matter what happens during your work day, whether you stay connected all day or you lose it throughout, the most important thing to do is to stay present and in your body.
So let’s just say you had a little bit of a stressful day or you were so focused (like me) that the day just flew by and you completely forgot any of these tips. It happens and we move on. We’re not better or worse for it. Just make sure to close your day off the right way.
How we end our day is in fact more important than how we start our day, contrary to popular belief.
Believe it or not, if you wake up after not having deep sleep or having stayed on your phone for too long in the evening, no matter what you do, things will be more difficult to move through. Your evening routine is your most important routine to support staying in your feminine flow (although I still love my morning routine!).
